The Wavesword is the Mage’s melee weapon: an ice blade that fills a Freeze gauge and then spends it. If you searched Thundersword, you are in the right place. That name is an older headline, not the name on current official and database pages.

Guides and RaidDex describe the same order of ideas. Tidal Rend and Glacial Burst build Freeze. Frost Shard is the spender once the gauge is full. Tidal Rush moves you in, and Thundersnow is the storm-named finisher that probably caused the old Thundersword headline. RaidDex counts 40 perks and 17 active skills on this tree. I will not quote Frost Shard’s database multiplier. A five-thousand-percent tooltip is a cell that patches rewrite, and the launch letter already said Wavesword attack growth was rebalanced.

Trait points that open those perks come from Raeven’s Coilstones. Nobody has published how many points a finished Wavesword tree costs, so this page does not say “you need X points to cap it.”

Name disagreement, kept on purpose

Steam wording, RaidDex, and the search demand all say Wavesword. MMORPG.com’s 17 September 2026 Mage story put Thundersword in the headline. Status: current name Wavesword, one older source says Thundersword. I did not merge them into a third spelling.

A spellsword or spellblade search is this weapon plus the Elemental Staff on the same Mage, not a fifth class. You still only trait one tree at a time. People who want range stay on the staff. People who want to stand in melee trait the sword.

How do I get more Wavesword damage?

Trait the Freeze skills and the launch rebalance already changed attack growth. A numeric “best rotation percent” is not published here.
