ArcheAge Chronicles versus ArcheAge

ArcheAge opened in Korea in 2013 and in the West in 2014. Chronicles is set about 50 years later and plays differently. North American and European service for the original ended on 27 June 2024. This page is a difference list, not a eulogy.

Systems that changed on paper

The original let you mix many skill lines. Chronicles gives you one of four classes and the weapons that class owns. The original’s open-world faction, naval, and siege fighting is not how Chronicles describes PvP; Chronicles uses peace and conflict channels. Housing in the original was placed in the world and taxed. The Chronicles housing guide describes leased plots, and that guide is one source. Trade packs in the original become, in the new pitch, trade journeys through a dangerous frontier. I can source the new pitch. I cannot source a sentence that says the old pack system was removed.

Questions people ask

Is Chronicles just ArcheAge again?

No. Classes, combat, and PvP channels are different. Several old systems are simply not described.

Did they remove the hero system?

It does not appear in the current official text or in RaidDex. That is “not found,” not a deletion notice.
