ArcheAge Chronicles black screen, crash, and loading fixes

These are workarounds from the 4 November 2026 known-issues post and the demo notes that came before it. A line that says “planned” is not a line that says “patched.”

Screen, startup, and crashes

A black screen in the demo was shader compilation. The advice then was to wait up to about ten minutes. Early Access shows a compilation screen instead. If XIGNCODE3 never finishes initializing, the post says to screenshot the hang and open a support ticket. Crashes were assigned to a following patch, not marked fixed on 4 November. Stutter and frame drops are acknowledged, with a promise of ongoing optimization, not a settings file from me.

Progress that sticks

A tutorial quest can jam. The post says a fix is written and waiting to deploy. Bosses that do not respawn: leave the area and return. Malchuk may not reappear, or may not be revivable, after a death; that one is still under investigation. Leaving a party or losing the leader can freeze a step; stay grouped until the next area. Keys are not shared, so a missing key is not a bug if your friend looted it. Stuck in terrain: press Esc and use Escape, then restart if you are still clipped. WASD rebinding is on the plan, not in the current controls. Chat language filter lives under Settings, Game Options, Chat Language Filter. Linux and Steam Deck will not run the client.

The Brazier quest’s missing prompt is a separate report and does not appear by name in the 4 November list. Use that quest page if Echo turn-in is the problem.

Questions people ask

ArcheAge Chronicles is a black screen. What now?

Wait through shader compilation. Early Access shows a compile screen. The old demo note said up to about ten minutes.

The game crashes on launch.

The 4 November post assigns crashes to a later patch. A DualSense or rebind issue is listed separately as planned work.

I am stuck in the ground.

Esc, then Escape. Restart if that fails. That is the posted workaround.
